Exploring the Assignment Bank from DS 106

I took a look at the the assignment bank from DS 106 and found it to be an interesting combination of different types of assignments.  I could have spent forever looking at all the different types of assignment, there was such a great variety in media and ideas.  I ended up doing the Phake Tweets assignment which uses the Twister tool from ClassTools to generate a series of images representing the voices of past figures if they could express themselves in twitter.  I found this extremely easy to use- I just wish I could’ve done more then one tweet for my historical person.  I did Marie Antoinette- a favourite historical person of mine since high school- check out her tweet.  I think that this could be a very engaging tool to use in the classroom to understand historical figures.  I also did the assignment  Journey to Somewhere where you create a Google Presentation “slideshow” of 9-12 images about a journey to somewhere.  This was also easy to use, as I have had a lot of experience with creating slideshows, even though I had never done on with Google.  I did a short slideshow of my Journey to Japan.  I think this tool would be great for younger children as they can create short sentences to go with pictures.
