So as part of another class I am tutoring a student on literacy using his funds of knowledge (hockey) and part of the math curriculum (graphing). It has been a very rewarding experience but sometimes challenging to fit all of this content in meaningfully. However, after last night’s session I thought Piktochart would be a great tool to use in this process. This week we worked on comprehension strategies- learning how to predict and using text structure (THIEVES) to understand the text. After we had finished reading a few articles which gave us some facts and statics we used Picktochart to create our graphs from our data. He had a great time seeing how the data was represented in the different formats. I couldn’t embed the file here but I took the roundabout way and am embedding it through my google+ page. (This will only be the first half of my techtask- this shows how it could be used to work individually with a student but I think it has far more potential and will continue to explore)!
